Captain's perspective – On-board LANA

Captain's perspective – On-board LANA

In conversation with LANA's Captain

What are some of LANA’s unique features?
LANA has no shortage of impeccable features. The spacious 120sqm Beach Club affords guests a true feeling of indoor and outdoor living, as it is right on the water’s edge. The vast sun deck of 100sqm is perfect for hosting summer parties, yet there are also hidden spots for guests seeking a quiet space. LANA boasts high ceilings (up to 2.7-meters) in all guest areas, which are hardly ever seen on a superyacht. This creates a sense of grandeur and the illusion of being on land. All guest interior spaces are fitted with oversized windows which have recently become a trend within the superyacht industry. It provides a magnificent panoramic view of the scenery. The state-of-the-art Hammam spa is the perfect environment to immerse in a relaxing ritual. The ornate walls extend the peaceful spa experience.

Where have been some of your favourite places you have visited on board LANA?
LANA was newly launched mid-summer 2020. Since her delivery, we have been very dynamic. We cruised around Malta, Sardinia, Corsica, South of France and extensively around Central and South Adriatic. LANA has developed a fantastic cruising itinerary for maiden voyage and still going.

Can you share your favourite itinerary on board LANA?
My favourite itinerary is starting from Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, South of France, then exploring Corsica and Sardinia. It combines beautiful unspoilt waters, remote beaches, culture and some glamour. The old fishing village of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat offers exceptional panoramic views. Once the guests are asleep, we start our journey to Corsica. We arrive in Piana where guests can explore the Scandola Natural Reserve. Under the red granite cliffs, the park boasts of an unparalleled wealth of flora, rare bird species and an abundance of underwater fauna. Bonifacio is one of the most memorable harbours for its fish soup and views from the Citadelle.

There are also many trendy bars and restaurants at night to explore.
On day four, we arrive at the Peninsula of Sinis in Sardinia. The area has been inhabited since the 5th century BC. The powder-soft beaches surrounded by the green countryside makes this a lush escape. Chia is one of the finest places to go in the province of Cagliari. The turquoise sea and peach coloured sand are famous. Su Giudeu is one of the best for water sports including surfing, scuba diving and snorkelling. A guest favourite is Porto Cervo. The picturesque village is full of boutiques and restaurants. Cala di Volpe is a large inlet that includes four beaches among the most beautiful bays of the Costa Smeralda. Visit the famous Hotel Cala di Volpe designed by Jaques Coulle, inspired by features of traditional country villages. Heading back to Porto Vecchio, Corsica, guests will find a natural, lagoon-like harbour. The old town has a charming atmosphere as well as many interesting sites to visit. Before heading back, my favourite is a stopover at Cap Corse, up north of the island. It is charged with history, nature and heritage. Discover the famous vineyards, taste the local production of olive oil, goat cheese and honey. Furthermore, there are forty kilometres of unspoilt waters to discover.

Where do you think LANA would be best chartered?
I believe LANA will please her charter guests wherever they desire to take her. She can proudly compete in popular destinations such as the Mediterranean and Caribbean. As well as remote areas such as Central and South America all the way to the Indian and Pacific Ocean. LANA has the right proportion of open decks combined with spacious interiors. She has an incredible appeal that offers guests a unique cruising experience. LANA is distinct, sleek and elegant; mixing expert knowledge at sea with unforgettable moments.

Where is your favourite charter destination?
My favourite charter destination is the Mediterranean tied with the Bahamas. They are both diverse as a cruising ground, offering remote and secluded areas as well as popular spots. In addition, the journey is absolutely scenic, matched with excellent cuisine and exceptional activities.

What are some of the hidden gems around this charter destination?
Both the Mediterranean and Bahamas are enveloped by stunning sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters. The Bahamas has many deserted islands to explore and the beauty of the underwater world may even compete! The waters are teeming with unique marine life and vibrant corals. There are plentiful sheltered diving and snorkelling spots to discover. In addition, the simple and happy local life offers a calming effect when stepping on the island. It is the perfect escape from a busy life.

Which places are on your yachting bucket list?
On my bucket list, you will find the Norwegian Fjords, Galapagos Islands, Cook Islands, Tahiti, French Polynesia and Fiji. Each of these dazzling destinations offers a unique yachting experience with an array of activities exclusive to that region. LANA has the sea capabilities to travel to any of the listed areas.

What can guests expect when chartering LANA?
Guests can expect the highest echelon of luxury cruising. Built to discover all corners of the globe, spectacular interior design by fine Italian craftsmanship and an abundance of amenities such as spa, 70 sqm cinema, beach club and pool to name a few. She also has a fully kitted-out selection of water-toys and a warm crew who will go the extra mile to add personal touches. All of this creates unparalleled and unforgettable guest experiences.

As LANA was only delivered recently, how much effort did the crew put in to make her ready for her debut charter season?
Despite LANA’s recent delivery, she has already proved herself to be very popular. Within days, she was set to explore the Mediterranean this summer. To get the vessel to the present pristine level, it took long hours and lots of muscle, matched equally with great pride and lots of dedication.

What should potential client guests know about LANA?
LANA is fast becoming the charter superyacht of choice and the most exciting superyacht on the scene. The vessel is innovative and complex, meaning she is able to serve her guests the maximum amount of comfort and can travel anywhere the guest may desire. LANA has been rigorously tested in different circumstances to ensure a delightful future. She provides an extraordinary experience for all her guests and the crew looks forward to hosting them on board!
